(Sept. 14) - College of Mount Saint Vincent Director of Athletics Cathy Ingram has announced the hiring of Mike Doughty as the new Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Information. Doughty, a native of Hyde Park, N.Y., spent the past two years as an Assistant Sports Information Director at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
While at Marist, Doughty served as the primary media contact for ten Division I sports. In 2005, he served as the sports information contact for the men's soccer team, women's water polo team and softball team that all advanced to their respective NCAA Tournaments.
In 2007, Doughty served as the primary media contact for the Marist women's basketball team during the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament in Stanford, CA and the Regional Semifinal Round in Dayton, Ohio. The Red Foxes defeated Ohio State and Middle Tennessee State on their way to the school's first ever Sweet 16 berth.
Prior to Marist, Doughty worked as a staff reporter for the Taconic Press office in Rhinebeck, N.Y. In that capacity he covered local news and sports for the Gazette-Advertiser and the Hyde Park Townsman.
Doughty received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Saint Joseph's College of Maine in 2003. While at St. Joe's, he worked as a student intern under Sports Information Director Rob Sanicola. He was responsible for women's soccer, field hockey and volleyball. He also worked with the men's basketball team that advanced to the 2003 Division III NCAA Tournament.
While at St. Joe's, Doughty was a member of the Monks' baseball squad that posted a 38-9 record during his sophomore season.
Doughty currently resides in his hometown of Hyde Park.
